If You Want Success Then Try Being A ‘Plan A’ Person

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Of the many secrets to success, being a ‘Plan A’ person is one of the most fundamental. So, what is a ‘Plan A’ person, and how can you tell if you are being one?

First, lets consider what a ‘Plan A’ person is. A good friend of mine, who is a perfect example of a ‘Plan A’ person, put it like this: “A ‘Plan A’ person is someone who’s plan B is that plan A works”. Simple, right? No ‘if’s’, no ‘buts’, and definitely no plan B. Plan A works. Full stop.

If you want to become a ‘Plan A’ person, then important lesson number 1 is to establish your plan A. You need to make sure that it is a good one too, as remember that will be no plan B as a back-up for it.

Important lesson number 2 is to always, always stick to plan A. Sometimes life gets a little rocky, and when you come face to face with the obstacles that will inevitably arise, some of life’s little stumbling blocks, you need to be resolute.

Important lesson number 3 is to never change your plan A. If you change your plan A, then it becomes plan B, and those are no longer allowed!

Well, success breeds success and, likewise, ‘Plan A’ people breed ‘Plan A’ people. There are only 26 letters in the alphabet, so there isn’t even a proper term that describes me before I made the conscious decision to become a ‘Plan A’ person.

However, by making friends with, doing business with, reading the same books as, and following the same strategies as ‘Plan A’ people, it didn’t take me long to become one too. It really is as straightforward as emulating the successful people (who are invariably ‘Plan A’ people that you want to be like.

If I can do it, and lots of people I’ve met can do it, then so can you. You’ve already taken a big step in the right direction, you now just need to not look back again. Do that, and the success that you’ve always dreamed of will soon be yours!

How To Change Your Thought patterns To Bring You Success

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Most of us are familiar with the saying that - ‘What we think about we bring about’. However, if that was all there was to it, we would all have everything we had ever desired in our life right here, right now.

Therefore, it is necessary to consider what exactly is meant by the word ‘think’. As you may or may not know, what we ‘think’ falls into 2 main categories: our conscious thoughts and our subconscious thoughts. Research shows that around 20% of our daily thoughts are conscious ones. The remaining 80% happen at the level of our subconscious.

So, would you be surprised to know that if only around 20% of what you ultimately desire is currently showing up in your life, you may need to spend more time consciously working on what you are ‘inputting’ every day to affect what is happening to the other 80%?

So, how can you make such a change to your thought patterns? As we can’t control what is currently happening at a subconscious level, we need to change our input at a conscious level. To do that, we need to do the following…

- Processes such as positive affirmations, meditation, and keeping a daily performance journal, in which we record only the positive things we have achieved that day, will all serve to to feed powerful affirming thoughts into the conscious mind, which in turn will ‘drip feed’ into the subconscious mind.

- Whenever negative emotions rise, e.g, emotions of anger, doubt or fear, we need to not let them settle in our minds. The reason being that emotions are transitory. It takes a combination of emotion and though to generate a permanent feeling at a subconscious level, so by not thing about our negative emotions, then will quickly pass and will leave no mark on us.

- We need to surround ourselves with a community of like-minded individuals and consume a daily diet of positive thoughts. By doing so, you leave no time or space for negativity to creep in to your life.

By following the above steps, we can gradually use the 20% of our thoughts that we have control over to bring about change to the 80% that just ‘happen’, thus improving the 80% of stuff in our lives which feel out of our control.
