Is There A Difference Between Home And In-Office Teeth Whitening?

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

People with whiter teeth have a higher self-esteem and find it easier to work with other people, some may say they are easier going because they are at ease with mingling and conversing with people. Surely you have run into people like this and just the same people who are shy and do not want to open themselves up to other people because they might be suffering from very low self esteem partially because of their stained teeth.

Look no further than this article for great information on getting whiter teeth. You have basically two options: You can go into the dentist office and get teeth bleaching or you can do home teeth whitening. If you are not sure which option will best suit you, read on.

Bleaching agent strength. One of the primary differences between home products and in-office treatment is that the latter makes use of products that are of higher concentration. Home products contain 10 percent carbamide peroxide, which is equivalent to about 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. The in-office bleaching products, on the other hand, utilize 15 to 43 percent of hydrogen peroxide. If you do the simple math, you can easily see that the in-office products are more effective.

Speed of bleaching process. Treatment done in the dentist’s clinic gives quicker results because aside from the high concentration bleaching product applied on the patient’s teeth, the dentist also makes use of a special light and/or a laser to accelerate the whitening process. In-office bleaching treatments would give significant results after a session that lasts from 30 to 60 minutes. While you can see some initial changes in the color of your teeth after you use the home product for several days, significant results would be achieved after several weeks.

Cost. Where cost is concerned, the home products are of course a lot less expensive, as they only cost from $20 to $100. The in-office bleaching procedure can be a staggering $300 to $500 per session. This factor makes home products the better option if you are tight on the budget or if you want to save money. Online, you would be able to browse through different stores selling teeth whitening products at very affordable prices. Just make sure that you pick a reliable store that sells only the highest quality of products to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Protection for your teeth and gums can be a great concern. . In the office setting, the dentist applies a gel on the gum tissue or a rubber shield to slide over your teeth to protect the gums and oral cavity from bleaching effects. Over-the-counter teeth bleaching products usually do not come with protective wear.

If you are in a hurry in-office bleaching does have more advantages than home products. However, it is important to remember that over-the-counter products are also effective and safe, plus you do not have to spend much on the treatment. So the choice is yours, it might just come down to time and money, either way get started today and enjoy those beautiful white teeth.

How To Play The Game Of Life

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

It’s actually simple, when you know how. Learn and accept the rules of the game of life, and play by those rules to get what you want. It’s interesting, because when you actually start to question why you want anything in life, you very quickly come to the conclusion that the reason you want anything more than where you are is because you think you will feel better if you had it. The other thing you quickly realise is that you can’t ever be truly happy unless you make movements towards your desires, towards your dreams out there ahead of you in your future.

The crux of this whole game called life is that you can’t ever go back and be happy. When you’ve become aware that you want more than you have, you will never feel happy unless you can become that new and improved person that you have identified yourself as wanting to be. Life is about expanding, becoming more, and you will be constantly becoming. Whether or not you effectively keep up with your own becoming, is really up to you. Some people allow themselves to go to who they’ve become (richer, more beautiful, more successful, more creative, more loving), and they live joyful lives as a result. Others tend to drag their feet and have lives which are less fun as they feel the tension between their ‘potential lives’ and their ‘reality’. If you want powerfully, and yet fail miserably to keep up with your expansion, the tension becomes unbearable and you tend to block out reality with some substance or bevahiour which diverts your focus, or else you exit the game early.

Some decide that they are incapable of keeping up with their own personal desires, and so they manage the distance between their present life and their desires by trying to limit their desires, by finding and participating in an organisation that agrees with them. But this is never really satisfying, and in any case, life is designed to provoke new desire in you, so you’re going against a powerful force (besides, being a hermit isn’t really that much fun).

On the whole, people don’t understand how they get what they get in life, and in their feeling of powerlessness they seek to think their way out of it. They strive to control the circumstances around them, creating rules and laws and trying to restrict the behaviour of others. If people were self-empowered, they wouldn’t feel the need to legislate against anyone else, as they would understand how everything came to them. You can’t think your way out of it, you have to feel your way

Indeed, its not until you let go of your attempt to control the outside world that you can come into your own power. Look inside yourself and control the way you feel. The great religious teachers all spoke of unconditional love, and this is what they meant. Feel good, regardless of the conditions. Conditional love sounds a bit like this: “I will feel good when I see things which please me, and bad when I see things which don’t”. Unconditional love says ” I will love you regardless of what you do, because love is who I really am, and there is nothing more important than feeling good because when I feel good I am allowing the goodness of life to flow through me, I feel alive and I feel good” How then to practice unconditional love? By giving people the benefit of the doubt, by realising that they are trying their best, that they might be having a bad day, by realising that you’d rather be happy than right, and that ultimately it feels so right to feel good and so wrong to feel bad. It’s no that you’re bad, just that your thoughts in that moment are. When your mother scolded you when you were young and called you bad, your bad feeling wasn’t because you were bad, but because your thoughts of yourself (which you got from your angry mother) were so far from what you really know to be true, that you felt the dissonance.

Sadly the majority of people get socialised into listening more to others than to their own inner voice and strength, as those who surround them look to control the behaviour of the outside world so they can feel better. This is unfortunate, because the only truly important thing for you to do whilst you’re here in this physical life experience is to stay feeling good. How you feel is crucial; it determines everything that comes to you in life. In order to get to the point where you can control the way you feel, and therefore what comes to you in life, you need to have a greater understanding of your emotions, and why they are so important

Do you understand this game called life? How the world addresses itself to you? How you get or don’t get what you get in life? How is it that some are wildly successful and others live lives of mediocrity? Why are some people rich beyond your wildest dreams and other work so hard and earn but a pittance? Is life a game of chance, and is there any benefit in working hard? How do we make the world a fairer place for everyone living here? Do we need to change the systems we currently have in place?

There are a lot of questions here. But where to begin? Firstly, stop trying to think your way out and start to feel your way along the path. Your emotions are more powerful guidance than you probably realise; and if you can understand and use them effectively, they will guide you towards everything that you want in life. Anyway, before we talk about emotions, let’s talk about the Law of Attraction.

Law of Attraction takes care of orchestrating all things in life; matching up like and like vibrations in both physical and non-physical realities. It is fair to say that it’s worth knowing about (it’s really the only law worth talking about). Have you heard the expression “Birds of a Feather Flock Together”. This is what law of attraction does. It matches up like and like vibrations; essentially we attract to us things that are similar to who we are. Similar? In what way?

Every time you think, you are tuning in to a thought frequency, a bit like a radio station, and Law of Attraction will match you up with things that match that radio station or frequency. This is where the phrase ‘you get what you think about’ comes from. Give your attention to anything for any length of time, and tune into that radio frequency, and start to see the equivalent frequencies come to you in your life. It’s not that they weren’t there before, just that you couldn’t see them, because they were on a different frequency, on a different vibe. High flying positive joyful thoughts are of a high vibrational frequency, and low, negative, depressing, angry, vengeful thoughts are of a much lower vibrational frequency.

So how does Law of Attraction apply to the real world? If I behave ‘as if’ I’m successful, will I become a success? Well, not necessarily. The Law of Attraction matches you up with things which match the way you feel about ‘those subjects’ in your life. If you feel successful, then Law of Attraction will match you up with situations which feel that way. If you only act or use words to pretend you are successful, but you still feel like a failure, then you cannot achieve success until you start feeling successful. You might even be a success in the eyes of others, but not in your own eyes. Feel the way you want to be, and let Law of Attraction bring you everything you want.

Looking At Ways On How To Improve Self Esteem

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

One thing that we all learn at an early age is how to interact with others and because we are human and possess a bevy of emotions and esteem building raw materials, how those other humans react to us is all important in constructing our feelings toward ourselves. We learn that it is important to be a good listener and treat others fairly, and very definitely the way our parents treated us as infants and then children played a big part in our formation of our picture of ourselves and our feelings of self worth.

The reverse is also true—those of us that were made to think of themselves as worthless, or not measuring up to family standards, or just plain stupid; grew up with the idea that they were losers and would never make the grade. This feeling of low self esteem can be a major stumbling block for some folks, and they spend much time and money trying to learn how to improve self esteem so they can live with themselves and do something positive with their lives.

The movers and shakers of the world are those who believe that they can move mountains if they only put their mind to it, because they are endowed with a positive self esteem that motivates them to take on all kinds of challenges with the idea that they will come out on top. They learned at an early age, that they were special, and kept improving on the factors that keep reinforcing how to improve their self esteem, so the reaction they get from the folks around them is always positive and they are folks that others want to associate with.

The Golden Rule is a great motivator for everyone to remember, because it embodies a large factor in what makes people tick in their interactions with each other. If you treat others as you would want them to treat you; with respect, understanding, genuine interest in what they had to say and their ideas; then they will usually respond in kind with you and as a result you feel very positively about yourself in that response and your self esteem is bolstered. People who are driven, know what they want out of life and go after it, and in the course of their lives treat others fairly; are those that others want to be associated with because they exude success.

Getting hung up on how people look and first impressions making decisions for you is a stumbling block that a lot of people suffer from; and getting past this hurdle is critical for those who want to learn how to improve their self esteem. If your core values are in place, you know what is right and wrong, and you treat others fairly in your dealings with them, then you will see a very positive response from them in what you have to say and as a result, your inner feelings toward yourself will expand in a positive manner and so will your self esteem. If we could all be more human in our dealings with each other and less negative, we would all possess good self images and the world would be a vastly different place.

As we start out in life, we are a blank slate on which everything that defines who we are and will be later in life is imprinted, happening by happening. If the majority of those happenings are positive, then you are blessed with a very positive image of yourself and you project that to others around you, who respond in like fashion. Similarly, if your blank slate is covered by slurs and negativity and you grow up feeling you are worthless and wish you had never been born, then that slate is going to need some serious cleaning and work to get you on the path to a healthy self image and self esteem, so you feel that you are special and good, and have something to offer the world.

Success in life is measured by several different factors, and a positive self esteem is essential to reaching those goals that define success. One of the first things someone must do in order to progress upward and onward, is to learn how to improve his/her self esteem and then use that knowledge to make things happen for the better. Folks with a good self image and lots of positive self esteem go farther and faster than those that are held back by fear, insecurity, and feelings of ineptness or inability to perform because those folks see themselves as losers rather than winners.

4. Form follows brainwork. Form/physical substance is created by thought/ mental energy. (Einstein)

5. Visualizing something creates a focus - a thought form, from your mind ” to the Universal mind. (What you focus on. Increases.)

6. Anything you put out to the Universe will be returned to you. (What goes around comes around!)

The Four Basic Steps for Effective Creative Visualization

1. Set your objetive ” Tell yourself what you want

2. Create a clear idea or picture ” Imagine looking the way you want to look! See the goal achieved! With this close your eyes and see it in your minds eye many times a day. Feel your desire intensely.

3. Focus on it habitually

4. Give it you positive energy. Think only good about it, feel only good feelings.

Work this process until you achieve your goal, or you dont want it anymore. Goals often change before they manifest. If you lose interest, it usually means you need another goal.

Mini-Steps to Overcome Panic Attacks

Monday, November 16th, 2009

The difficult part about panic attacks is that they can occur when you least expect them. You will not be prepared to deal with them when they occur.

You might be busy with some work or might be having fun with friends. Suddenly, you get a panic attack!

Such things will create an impact on you and leave you fearful of engaging in the activity where panic attack happened.

However, in most cases, that particular activity or place had little to do with the attack.

So, you do not need to avoid those situations or places. You can go on living as usual.

If you live as usual and don’t let panic attacks hamper your life in any way, soon they will lose their power and will stop troubling you.

The initial courage may be the difficult to muster up. For this reason, do not try to take big steps to tackle your problem.

It is better to take mini-steps in the positive direction to overcome panic attacks. For example, if you really fear another panic attack while going shopping, take a friend along who is familiar with your problem.

Keep with you any anti-anxiety pills you might be taking (ofcourse with doctor consultation). This would help you feel a little more comfortable to visit those places where you fear another panic attack.

Just don’t try to go alone. Trying to become too brave all of a sudden may backfire at you. Be patient, and try to take little courageous steps in the right direction.

Keep reminding yourself in normal circumstances that panic attacks are not dangerous - they only feel so. You feel like dying or having a heart attack, but you are not actually having it.

You might not have heard of anybody dying from panic attacks, have you? These attacks only seem to be dangerous - but most of the time in reality, they are not so.

Once you become aware of this fact, you will feel a lot safer. You will know that panic attacks may not cause you any real damage. They will come and pass away within short period of time.

Likewise, take baby steps in the positive direction which help in raising your courage. Everyday, try to move in the positive direction in order to overcome panic attacks.

Soon you may find that you no longer dread this problem. At this point of time, panic disorder may fade away on its own!

Please remember that avoid taking pills or medication for this problem as much as possible. Only take them when the problem gets seriously out of hand or you are really fearful.

Better to go for natural treatments or behavioral therapy to learn how to tackle this problem without pills. This is a better strategy in the long run.

Whitening Strips

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Crest Whitestrips are great teeth whitening products. They all work the same way, and they come in many different forms. The strips contain hydrogen peroxide, which is the very effective bleaching agent found in many teeth whitening products.

Traditionally, teeth whitening products contained abrasive particles that were designed to “scrub” or “sand” the teeth. The idea was that these particles would rub off any discoloring particles, allowing the natural, white color of the teeth to come forth. However, it was soon discovered that most people did not have naturally white teeth.

Soon after this was discovered, hydrogen peroxide made an appearance. Hydrogen peroxide is far superior to abrasive materials in that it does not scrub the teeth but instead bleaches them. Today, every teeth whitening product except toothpaste uses hydrogen peroxide to stain the teeth white (toothpastes still use abrasive materials, as they are effective for cleaning).

An adhesive material is applied to the Whitestrips during production, which is designed to stick to teeth. They are designed to last at least the whole thirty minutes of treatment in all of the Whitestrips products, except that the Daily Multicare Whitening and Daily Multicare Whitening with Tartar Control are designed to last for five minutes.

Whitestrips can be bought over-the-counter or not-over-the-counter in many varieties and strengths, with hydrogen peroxide content of anywhere from six to fourteen percent. For teeth whitening products, they work exceptionally well.

Despite their great uses, Crest Whitestrips have some problems, too. First, since they lay flat across the teeth, they do not get into the cracks and grooves in between the teeth. This leaves the user with a type of “zebra” effect. Second, the Whitestrips are not made with great adhesive material, so they slide off the teeth very easily. Therefore, users are prohibited from doing much with their mouths (eating, drinking, smoking) if they want the strips to stay on the teeth. Crest came out with a product which stays on the teeth better, called Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal.

Crest Whitestrips are excellent products for whitening teeth, and their placement is easy to control, so users can avoid touching the strips to the gums, avoiding burns. Despite their flaws, Crest Whitestrips remain among the best teeth whitening products.

Cody Scholberg, a fanatic of white teeth, writes about the different teeth whitening methods, such as laser whitening.

Teeth Whitening Toothpastes

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

There are many kinds of teeth whitening products available to the would-be teeth whitener, and whitening toothpastes are just one kind. Whitening toothpastes are a different breed of whitener than most others, for they do not contain any bleaching agent; they do not contain hydrogen peroxide.

Instead of being a bleaching whitener, they are abrasive whiteners. This means that they contain abrasive materials which effectively “sand” your teeth; they grind away any discoloring materials. This is only so effective; if you have especially dark teeth, you may find that whitening toothpastes are not sufficient to lighten your teeth.

Controversy

Many often wonder if whitening toothpaste has any merit. Their reasoning is as follows: fluoride toothpaste used to clean teeth does so through the use of abrasive materials, so there is little difference between them and whitening toothpastes.

Some whitening toothpaste has more abrasive material than regular toothpaste. However, when too much abrasive material is used, it can cause sensitive teeth and gums. One common abrasive material is baking soda, which is the best and most effective abrasive.

Baking Soda

When compared to other teeth whitening toothpaste abrasives, baking soda is very effective. But, buying toothpaste containing it is not necessary, as you can simply make one yourself. Simply mix a dash of hydrogen peroxide with a pinch of baking soda in a bowl to create a very effective teeth whitener. Since hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent used in more effective whiteners, you will get the best of both abrasive whiteners and bleaching whiteners.

Rembrandt

Rembrandt toothpaste, being a whitening toothpaste, contains abrasive materials. However, it contains less than most other whitening toothpastes. Therefore, Rembrandt is less harmful to your gums and teeth than other whitening toothpastes, and it is recommended for those with sensitive teeth.

Pearl White

Pearl White is a very effective whitening toothpaste and is often given by a dentist to a patient who has just undergone an intense whitening treatment, such as laser teeth whitening. To use it, one needs to use a dry toothbrush on dry teeth, brush in circles for one minute on both the top and bottom sets of teeth, and rinse with warm water when finished. This does not replace a regular, fluoride toothpaste, so one must still use a fluoride toothpaste after using Pearl White.

Pearl White creates long lasting, immediate results, and is therefore much more effective than most over-the-counter teeth whitening toothpastes. So, it is recommended over all other whitening toothpastes.

Whitening toothpastes are useful when used as maintenance items after a procedure, but they will never be as effective as bleaching whiteners. Naturally, users who desire a great change in the color of their teeth will be unsatisfied with the results of whitening toothpastes and should resort to teeth whitening products which contain a bleaching agent.

Procrastination - Why Does A Person Procrastinate?

Friday, September 25th, 2009

There are many things which can stop you as a person from succeeding in life, but the biggest one of them all is procrastination. It is procrastination which can prevent a person from actually achieving their goals and put obstacles in their way. It is procrastination which can also make a person choose a particular path which will result in them not achieving what it was they first set out to do.

But just how can some one tell if they are a procrastinator or even the aren’t? Well below we provide you with some pointers which will help you to understand better what procrastination is and whether you are doing it without really knowing about it.

1. Around 20% of all people who identify themselves as being procrastinators will be chronic sufferers of the problem. They soon learn that this can seriously intrude in on their lives and make it much more difficult to cope with living everyday.

2. Many people who tend to procrastinate do not actually have problems in managing the time they have available to them. What they actually find difficult to do is calculate just how much they will need in order for them to complete a particular task.

3. A person who procrastinates is not born with this affliction, but rather they make it of their own volition. Although they may not know it they will learn it through the life they lead as they grow up from the people surrounding them. Often a child who comes from a family with controlling parents will often be a procrastinator more than those that don’t. These type of children will find it difficult to regulate themselves and find it difficult to act on any ideas or thoughts they may have to help themselves.

4. In studies carried out people who tend to procrastinate it has been found that they tend to drink more alcohol than others. This may simply be because they use it as a way of helping them to avoid dealing with the problems that they face throughout their lives and help them to cope with those times when things are much worse they may really seem to others.

5. For quite a large number of people who procrastinate they will often use ways to distract themselves so that they can avoid doing those things that they don’t like to do or they don’t feel that they can do. Often they will do a task that they find easy to complete rather than going for the one they know they must do but which they see as far too difficult. This is because they feel that they do not have the right set of skills or abilities in order to achieve the required state of completion.

For many people they have actually found ways in which they can help themselves to stop procrastinating as much as they do now. A lot of people will now use cognitive behavioral therapy as a way of dealing with their procrastination. Which although will take time accomplish once they do they will find it much easier to lead what others would consider to be a normal way of life.
